Religions are an expression of an experience of the Sacred, of the Spiritual that is both within and beyond each person. Perhaps the often heard accusation that those who are religious are also 'hypocrites' has some foundation in that some people may be religious without being Spiritual?
P2S began in late 2008 as a preaching and teaching ministry concentrating upon rethinking the religious and the Spiritual aspects of Christianity and how to live as Jesus-centred, liberated and Spiritual people in today's world.
Now the permissiontospeak.org.uk web site is regularly visited by some who remain in but on the edge of the Church and increasingly by Spiritual travellers who have left the Church because they can no longer live with its creeds, doctrines, dogma and traditions. These are the Spiritual seekers whom Bishop Spong calls the 'fastest growing branch of the Christian Church - the Church Alumni Association'.
The ministry of P2S understands Jesus of Nazareth as its Spiritual Gateway to the God-experience. All who have found other Gateways are respected and honoured. It is reassuring in these difficult times in which religion is often seen as the cause of so much unrest in the world, to find readers and contributors from other faith traditions willing to share ideas and experiences. P2S values the past in different faith traditions as being important in understanding the present, but P2S is more concerned with Spiritual Truth lived in today's world than it is concerned with tradition. Through P2S, people may find support for their own spiritual pilgrimages in these uncertain, fast-changing times.
This site may not be for those members of the Christian Church or other faith traditions who are sure of their faith and unsettled by other understandings and explorations of 'God'. Rather, it is intended to support and to encourage those who are on the margins of institutional religion, wanting to find ways of experiencing the Spiritual in their own terms beyond what their faith traditions tell them is the Truth.
New Associates are joining as the work of P2S expands. These Associates will contribute sermons, etc and their own websites can be reached through this P2S website.
